Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Hampshire, you must be at least 21 years of age, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A full, valid driving licence appropriate for the chosen vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must present valid identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are necessary, along with any other specific requirements listed in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Hampshire office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and inclusive of VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and acknowledged by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and associated charges will apply. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will be charged for vehicles returned with less fuel. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please notify us as soon as possible, as additional fees may apply. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Guidelines
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional insurance is in place. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failures to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Your Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, and other risky endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used as intended, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breaching these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English law, Car Hire accepts no responsibility for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for the rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Hampshire Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Changes to Terms and Conditions
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
